재외동포청 주최 초청연수 토론회서 동참 의지 다져

재외동포청 주최로 서울 서초 서초동 더케이호텔에서 개최된 ‘2023 한글학교 교사 초청연수’가 6박7일 간의 일정을 마치고 성공리에 폐막했다. 연수는 1월 8일 개회식과 이기철 재외동포청장의 기조 강연을 시작으로 4회의 전체교육, 한국어 교수법·에듀테크 등 5회의 분과 교육·실습, 지역별 및 전체 토론, 역사·문화 체험 등으로 진행됐다. 1월 14일 폐막일에는 수료식과 우수연수생 시상식이 열렸다.

  앞서 1월 10일에는 ‘한국의 발전상을 거주국에서 효과적으로 전파하기 위한 구체적인 방안’이란 주제를 놓고 지역별 소그룹 토론이 진행됐다. 참가 교사들은 자유롭게 의견을 교환하며 차세대 동포들의 정체성 함양과 자긍심 제고를 위한 ‘한국 알리기 사업’에 대한 동참 의지를 다졌다.

  북미 분과에서는 ▲한인회·한글학교협의회 등 단체 간 협력을 통한 지역 교육 당국과의 소통 창구 마련 ▲학부모-교사 협의회((PTA, Parents-Teacher Association) 등 현지 교육 커뮤니티 참여를 통한 한국어 및 한국의 발전상 관련 수업 개설 유도 등의 아이디어가 나왔다. 아시아·유럽 등 분과에서는 ▲현지 교육 관계자 대상 한국 발전상 세미나 개최 ▲학부모 대상 수업 개설 ▲현지 교과서 등의 오류 발견 시 한글학교에서 재외동포청에 전달할 수 있는 소통 채널 마련 등의 의견이 제시됐다.

  특히, 47개국 206명의 참가자 중 16개국 30명의 교사는 한국 발전상 알리기 네트워크에 적극 참여하겠다는 의사를 밝혀, 앞으로 차세대 동포들이 모국에 대한 자긍심을 갖고 현지 주류사회에 성공적으로 진출하는 데 유리한 환경을 조성할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Invitees discuss ideas at OKA’s training forum

   The 2023 Hangeul School Teacher Training Program, hosted by the Overseas Koreas Agency, concluded successfully after six days and seven nights at The K Hotel in Seocho-dong, Seoul. Starting with the opening ceremony and a keynote lecture by OKA Commissioner Lee Keycheol on Jan. 8, the training consisted of four general training sessions, five breakout sessions on Korean teaching methods and educational technology, regional and general discussions, and historical and cultural experiences. On Jan. 14, the closing day, the completion ceremony and the outstanding trainee award ceremony were held.

  On Jan. 10, small group discussions were held for each region on the topic of “Concrete measures to effectively communicate Korea’s development in home countries.” Participating teachers freely exchanged their opinions and strengthened their will to participate in the Promote Korea Project to foster the identity and self-esteem of the next generation of Koreans. In the North America session, ideas included ▲Establishing communication channels with local education authorities through collaborations between organizations, such as the Korean Association and the Korean Language School Council; ▲Engaging the local education community, including PTAs (Parents-Teacher Associations), to offer classes on the Korean language and Korea’s development. In the Asia-Europe session, ideas such as ▲Holding seminars on Korean development for local education officials, ▲Organizing classes for school parents, and ▲Establishing a communication channel for Korean language schools to report errors in local textbooks to the OKA were suggested.

  In particular, out of 206 participants from 47 countries, 30 teachers from 16 countries expressed their willingness to actively participate in the network, and this is expected to create a favorable environment for the next generation of Koreans to feel proud of their country and successfully enter the local mainstream society.
